About the Artist

Cori Ward is a visual artist based in Grand Junction, Colorado.

My heart belongs to the vibrant world of acrylics, where I bring landscapes to life with bursts of color, unexpected angles, and soft, intricate florals. I started painting during the pandemic, just looking for something to lift my spirits and keep my hands busy. What began as a simple creative outlet slowly became a creative, meaningful part of my life, a steady companion on the journey.

Right now, I work with young people in District 51, but before this chapter of my life, I worked as a grief counselor walking with people through some of their most difficult seasons. This left me deeply aware that grief doesn’t always need to be fixed — it just needs to be witnessed. Art has a way of doing exactly that: holding space for what can’t be put into words, allowing emotion to simply exist without judgment.

More than a dozen pieces of her artwork hang on the walls of the Cancer Center, inspiring patients with every brushstroke—offering comfort, reflection, and a renewed sense of strength during treatment. This vibrant display is more than decoration; it’s a tribute to the human spirit and a powerful reminder that healing is not only physical, but emotional and spiritual. In this space, we are redefining hope.

“Recently, I met someone who had just rung the bell in the cancer center. They showed me the video, and in the background was the wall with my mural. They told me how much they loved it and how uplifting it had been during their visits. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. To know that something I painted could bring even a little comfort or joy to someone walking through one of the hardest seasons of their life… it’s one of the greatest honors I could imagine.”
