Structural heart procedures combine the talents of cardiothoracic surgeons and specially trained interventional cardiologists to address structural defects in the heart and valves in patients for whom open-heart surgical procedures are not recommended. Thanks to an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to structural heart care, Intermountain Health can offer advanced structural heart treatments, including:

  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for aortic valve disease.
  • Transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve repair/replacement therapies (M-TEER, T-TEER, and TTVR), including MitraClip for mitral valve disease and EVOQUE for tricuspid valve replacement.
  • Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO) for patients with atrial fibrillation who face an increased risk of stroke or are seeking alternatives to long-term blood thinner therapy. Therapeutic options include WATCHMAN procedure.
  • Patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defects (ASDs) closure.
