Frequently Asked Questions About E-VisitsWho can have an e-visit?Anyone who is in the state of Colorado or Montana and is over the age of 18 can use e-visits to receive care for common health issues. What conditions can be treated by e-visits?
Who is responding to my e-visit?Our experienced and caring Intermountain Health providers will provide you with a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to your symptoms and condition. Your visit details will be added to your MyChart records for your primary care doctor to see. WWhat about the cost, payment methods, and my insurance?The cost for diagnosis and treatment is $35. You will only be charged if we can treat your condition. For payment, you will be prompted to enter your debit or credit card information. If you have a health savings account (HSA) card, you can submit that card number during payment at checkout. You will receive a receipt after your credit card has been charged. If prescriptions are needed, you will pay for those at the pharmacy. If you believe this service is covered by your insurance plan, you may submit a claim to your insurance company to pursue reimbursement. Be aware that if this is not a covered service, the cost you pay during check-out will not count towards your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum. This service is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. How long does an e-visit take?An e-visit typically takes about five to 10 minutes to complete. How do I initiate an e-visit?If you already have a MyChart account with Intermountain Health (formerly SCL Health), you can sign in to your account to start your e-visit. If you do not already have a MyChart account, you will need to create one before your e-visit. After you submit your information in MyChart, you will receive an email within about 15 minutes that lets you know your MyChart account is active and you can then begin your e-visit. Can I get prescriptions through an e-visit?Yes, if needed, your provider can order prescription medications for you and send them directly to the pharmacy of your choice. What kind of technology do I need to have an e-visit?Our technology supports most of the common web browsers. For desktops and laptops, we support the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer 10+. On mobile devices, we support the latest versions of Safari and Android Chrome. For some conditions, we may want to see a picture to help us understand what is going on. If needed, you can upload pictures from your mobile device or your computer to our secure MyChart portal. What if a provider cannot diagnose and treat me with an e-visit?If your condition requires in-person diagnosis or treatment, we’ll follow up with you directly to discuss other options for care. You will only be charged if a provider can treat your condition. |

How long does a video visit take?Request or schedule a video visit through MyChart. Once connected with a care provider, most video visits take about 10 minutes. Depending on your circumstances, times may vary for your care provider to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan. If you already have a MyChart account with Intermountain Health (formerly SCL Health), you can sign in to your account to start your video visit. If you do not already have a MyChart account, you will need to create one for a video visit. What if I am having a technical issue?Ensure that you have a compatible browser (not Internet Explorer) and that pop-ups are not being blocked. If you need further assistance call (866) 808-3530. Will my insurance cover the cost of a video visit?Many insurance plans are adding video visits as a covered benefit. However some insurance plans do not cover video visits. You may be responsible for your co-pay amount prior to seeing the provider. We will then attempt to bill your insurance. If your insurer does not cover video visits, you will be billed for the service. What kind of technology do I need to have a video visit?To start a video visit you will need the Intermountain Health MyChart app on your video-enabled smart device or log into MyChart on your computer using a compatible browser. How can my provider treat me without a physical exam?Many times your provider does not need to perform a hands-on exam to safely diagnose and treat your condition. Frequently Asked Questions About Next Available Video VisitsWhat kind of technology do I need to have a video visit?To start a video visit you will need the Intermountain Health MyChart app on your video-enabled smart device or log into MyChart on your computer using a compatible browser. Can I use Next Available Video Visits for my child?Yes! Parents, guardians and caretakers can initiate a Next Available Video Visits on behalf of children younger than 12 years of age through the parent's proxy MyChart account. Your child must be present during the video visit. Please note infants under 3 months old with a fever need to be evaluated in person. Please know your baby’s weight and temperature. When can I use Next Available Video Visits?Next Available Video Visits are available 7am -7pm Monday-Sunday. Can the provider write a work/school note?Yes, please ask for any work/school note needed while you are connected so you don’t have to connect in again. Who are the providers I will see in Next Available Video Visits?Next Available Video Visits are staffed by clinicians who specialize in urgent care and family practice. All of our providers have many years of experience treating patients in-person and are certified and credentialed according to NCQA standards. What do I do if I have trouble connecting?We recommend always testing your computer before you connect if you are accessing from a PC or laptop. Please make sure that if using an iPad or iPhone, you are using the most updated operating system (iOS15.6) to prevent audio issues. Our help desk can assist with connectivity challenges and can be reached at (866) 808-3530. What do I do if I get disconnected?If you get disconnected for any reason, start a new session. You’ll only be charged for one visit. Will providers have access to my medical record?All our staff have access to the medical history you provide in the platform. Additionally, our providers will have access to your medical history if you are an Intermountain Health (formerly SCL Health) patient. Can I receive a prescription from a provider?Next Available Video Visit providers will prescribe medication applicable for your individual diagnosis. We practice good antibiotic stewardship so you may not receive antibiotics if they are not indicated. Please note that by law narcotics/opiates (such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, etc.) cannot be prescribed via telehealth visits. What if my condition requires an in-person visit?If our providers cannot diagnose your condition over telehealth or feel your condition is best treated in-person, you will get a message via MyChart that your appointment has been cancelled and options for how to be seen in person. Will my insurance cover the cost of a video visit? Is there a self-pay option?Many insurance plans are adding video visits as a covered benefit. However, some insurance plans do not cover video visits. If your insurer does not cover video visits, you will be billed for the service. You may or may not be asked to pay a co-pay during the e-check in process depending on your insurance. If you wish for us not to bill insurance, we do offer a $59 self-pay option.
